Inauguration of the second forum of new educational programs in Alexandria University

Prof. Dr. Roshdi Zahran, the rector in charge of Alexandria University underlined university desire to open up to the outside world, especially in Arab and African countries through providing new educational programs to attract more students from these countries. He explained that students from 46 countries are enrolled in the first year at the university that can be considered as satisfactory representation of foreign countries in Alexandria University.

Dr. Zahran pointed out that the university seeks to double the number of foreign students enrolled in the university during the next two years as the current number is less than 4000 students in addition to students enrolled in the university branch in N'Djamena, Chad, and university branch of South Sudan where students started the study more than three years ago in Alexandria waiting for the start of the study in South Sudan next year.

Dr. Rushdi Zahran stated that the university seeks to intensify cooperation with European and US universities in student exchange programs to attract students from the United States and Europe to study for one or two semesters.

This came during the opening of "The 2nd exhibition and forum for new educational programs at Alexandria University, present and future" with attendance of ambassadors, consuls cultural attachés in Egypt and former presidents and deputies of the university deans,as well as faculty members and a lot Egyptian and foreign students studying in the university.

He called to pay attention to conduct agreements with international universities to grant joint degrees accredited by Alexandria University and international universities thus supporting the ongoing development of these programs.

The Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abaza, vice-president of university branch in Matrouh declared that the branch prepared to hold a forum for joint programs during the period from 13 to 15 of May 2015 in Marsa Matrouh, explaining that the branch has been always interesting in creating joint study programs in collaboration with scientific departments with a view to provide new pattern of education to meet community needs in Matrouh.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Osman, the Executive Director of Education Development Center in the university stated that the forum will include workshop faculty members and all parties involved in joint educational programs in the university under the title "vision for a better future of education" to indicate their importance among various disciplines, as well as to review local, regional and international experiences in this area with a view to adopt new joint study programs at the university to meet labor market needs and to define the obstacles facing the application of these programs.
